Mixed Media Art

I so love to create rich and colourful layers in mixed media! Many of my girls have attitude in their expression, further emphasised by the bold use of colour and the addition of strong pink or blue hair. My own hair changes shade every year or two as well. I have started 2023 asa bold violet purple - I was pale pink for a looong time, so the rich violet shade is a true delight ! Do you take advantage and change up colour according to season or mood accordingly? I've seen some amazing rainbow hairstyles recently, but I have a LOT of hair and fear that might be a lot of work to maintain, although with all of the variety available, I rule nothing out ;) This is my current choice, should anyone be curious !

Stepping Forth

This seems an apt piece for the beginnings of a New Year, new adventures and challenges lie ahead - for me, a huge shift as I transition from my bricks and mortar business of the past ten years and take up more exciting opportunities to share my art and skills online. A little scasy, but I guess chnage always is! This piece is created on 12" x 16" block ( deep sides) gallery wrapped canvas. I adore the healing energies of pink and this piece glows with layers of pink in every shade as she strides forward into new adventures. Does she call to you? You can find more about her HERE

Fairy Bug

I am truly a little in love with this sweet fairy bug myself! She holds her own magic and feels elemental and pure, yet complex at the same time... rich in detail and set on a background of rich greens and golds. Created on 8" x 10" canvas, with deep edge, painted black as part of the piece, and she is sealed with artist's gloss varnish. Would you like to add her to your art collection? Find here HERE in my etsy store !

Art Supply Junkie Here...

Nothing better than diving into some new art supplies right? BUT, it's an investment too, and we all have those dusty supplies lurking at the back of the stash that really didn't work out as we hoped. Here are some of my most tried and tested, current favourite supplies ( and why I like them!) (These are my personal reviews on the products mentioned but as an Associate of Amazon I will receive a small commission if items are purchased through these links ) Sennelier metallic acrylic paint, Irridescent Bronze. If you have taken any of my online classes then you will almost certainly have seen me use this gorgeous paint in some circumstance or other. Despite the name, it actually appears more gold than bronze, but not in a garish or overpowering way...more like an antique gold,it has an aged feel - it's amazing, definitely one that I would not be without ! Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic Paints Juicy, buttery, rich in pigme...
