Nothing better than diving into some new art supplies right? BUT, it's an investment too, and we all have those dusty supplies lurking at the back of the stash that really didn't work out as we hoped.
Here are some of my most tried and tested, current favourite supplies ( and why I like them!)
(These are my personal reviews on the products mentioned but as an Associate of Amazon I will receive a small commission if items are purchased through these links )
Sennelier metallic acrylic paint, Irridescent Bronze.
If you have taken any of my online classes then you will almost certainly have seen me use this gorgeous paint in some circumstance or other. Despite the name, it actually appears more gold than bronze, but not in a garish or overpowering way...more like an antique gold,it has an aged feel - it's amazing, definitely one that I would not be without !
Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic Paints
Juicy, buttery, rich in pigment - I LOVE this brand! Not to say I don't use cheaper brands at times too, when creating mixed media or art journal work, but for me, these are a definite staple in my art and an absolute joy to use!
Titanium White - there are tons of great white acrylic paints out there, and I have tried many of them, but for value for money this one is hands down my favourite. It's densely pigmented, smooth to use, mixes well, and, for the price, is exceptionally good quality for what you pay. It's good enough to do the job well, but not so high end that I feel I need to be scared to use too much. Highly recommend.
Amsterdam Acrylic Inks - In particular this amazing Olive Green. These inks are rich in pigment so a little really does go a long way, and this green is to die for, it manages to be incredibly vibrant whilst not overpowering when sitting with earthier tones. If you are going to try just ONE acrylic ink - this is THE shade!
Last but not by any means least today, I bought this on a whim recently, mainly attracted by the price if I am honest, but I was pleasantly surpised by the quality of this lovely shade. Whilst not as densely pigmented as some of the higher end brands, this has been great for layering and also worked beautifully washed over a too-bright collage to tone it back a little . No regrets on this purchase at all- this will definitely be well used and not left gathering dust!
