Just pushing the paint around today, and seeing who emerges. Very limited palette and lots of loose marks and layers to come.

The fun we had! Basic Printmaking workshop in my studio yesterday! Fearless students making the most of a new technique and embracing it as their own, taking home piles of inspiring beginnings and ideas. I look forward to running this one again soon !

A few images from my sketchbook practise today,I love to revisit older work occasionally, they bring back all sorts of memories from then they were created and ofnte remind of ideas that I had in the moment and didn’t pursue at the time, so a great inspiration tool! These are some faces in a variety of media. Some of these will be developed into future finished paintings and some will be stored as a learning reference for further development.

I am sure most artists have collections of treasure that they keep about their workplace . I think my favourite treasure has to be feathers, there are jars and pots of them all about the place and I love them all!

I learned a lot last year about balance. This year is about giving myself the time to breathe and create and gather new inspirations....and accepting that whilst it’s good to be disciplined and work hard it’s also ok NOT to be superwoman all the time. With a little self care and kindness inspiration returns and I feel nurtured and keen for more. new design-a prototype , so slightly imperfect, but that’s ok too :-)

I am lucky enough to know a wide variety of incredibly talented artists and makers both online and in my local area. This is ceramic work by Lucie Sivicka , whom I met by chance last year and was lucky enough to persuade her to show some work in my little gallery shop . I love the bold colours nad quirky detailing in Lucie’s creations!

Very excited about a number of art exhibitions I have booked for this year! Working on some new pieces and creating a whole new collection for the first themed show in May. Every idea I have brings another three right now, so much to do! More details to follow shortly !

So...I found a photo of myself in the back of an old sketchbook, from about 4 years ago....time for a selfie, old-school style! It's really quite an odd feeling to draw one's own face, but I enjoyed the process and will be doing this again, maybe with a more recent pic next time!This is an A3 size on heavy weight mixed media paper, using charcoal and graphite stick. My hair is longer these days and lightened a lot so I can wear it in a lavender shade...why?...well, why not?!

Lots of exciting plans for this year-I have closed a few doors and am ready to open some new ones! Watch this space for more news soon!
