Work in Progress.....

This latest piece is entitled Vivid Spirit. It is shown here as a work in progress, as these posts are,I have been told, interesting to many of you-thanks! The progress shots are not best quality as were taken on my phone ( I don't often keep the camera at my studio!),you will see one has been 'flipped' as I find this helps me to look at a piece more objectively part-way through and spot imbalances more easily ( I used to hold work at a mirror a few years ago,for the same reason, which could be so awkward- I love the ease of a pocket-size camera phone that now does it for me in an instant!) The final shot is a high quality version which reflects the piece quite well. Overall I am pleased at how this one turned out, and I really like the mixed of loose texture and finely added details layered together for a very hot and complex mix of colour. This is a mixed media piece which includes inks, acrylic and oil pastel on wooden board, lightly glazed to protect and retain intensity...

New Years Day

What a way to blow away the cobwebs on 1st January 2009! Trevaunance Cove is just a hundred yards or so from my studio ( how lucky am i?!) and was a chilly but refreshing place to visit on the first day of the year for a spot of beachcombing and fresh air! Caves to explore,a whole heap of precious pebbles collected by my daughter and then back to our friends' house for hot choc and marshmallows-perfect!:)

New Studio!

It's finally happening!! I will be working this week on the set up of my new studio at Trevaunance Cove Workshops in St Agnes, Cornwall. It's a wonderful setting just a hundred yards away from the beach and there are several other artists in residence too, making it a very interesting and fun place for a visit, meet the artists and maybe even treat your self to a piece of original art!! I have waited a long time for the opportunity to join these lovely workshops, so am delighted my efforts have finally paid off! Photos to follow soon-do drop in for a visit if you get the chance!
